Cheers To 30 Years: MillerCoors Celebrates Three Decades Of Drunk Driving Prevention Program
CHICAGO, Dec. 14, 2017 /PRNewswire/ — In celebration of the 30th year of the Free Rides program, MillerCoors is once again helping consumers enjoy New Year’s Eve in Chicago; Dallas; Denver; Milwaukee, WI; Minneapolis and St. Paul, MN; and Phoenix. Since its inception, the Free Rides program has provided more than 5.5 million people with free, alternative transportation options, across 26 communities.
“As a company, MillerCoors is proud of the awareness it’s built through the Free Rides Program in asking consumers to enjoy the holidays responsibly for 30 years,” said Diane Wagner, alcohol responsibility manager for MillerCoors. “Not only is MillerCoors encouraging consumers to plan ahead, but it is also providing free and discounted options for a safe ride home.”
Through continued partnerships with local transit companies and distributors, the Free Rides program provides residents and visitors with safe and free transportation alternatives during the holidays and local events. The program has earned the support of state and local law enforcement agencies in the markets where Free Rides are offered. In addition to Free Rides on public transportation, MillerCoors has partnered with Uber since 2015 to offer consumers discounted rides in more than 100 markets.
“MillerCoors Free Rides program has been an integral part in the fight against drunk driving in cities across the country,” said Chuck Canterbury, National President of the Fraternal Order of Police. “Its investment in impaired driving prevention helps thousands of people enjoy New Year’s Eve safely and responsibly.”
MillerCoors aims to implement impactful programs to prevent drunk driving in every market where beer is sold as part of the 2025 Global Goals MillerCoors developed in partnership with Molson Coors. Designated driver and safe ride programs like New Year’s Eve Free Rides are critical components of meeting these goals.
